One of the questions we hear most is, "Do I have to drop my car off all day?" For most jobs, the answer is a happy no. Rite-Way brings the shop to you — your driveway, your office parking lot, wherever your car happens to be sitting. Here's how it works and what to expect.
The idea is simple: the shop comes to you
A modern mobile auto glass unit carries everything a technician needs — the glass, the tools, the adhesives, and the calibration equipment — right to your location. Instead of rearranging your day, you go about your business while we handle the windshield. For a lot of our customers, the car never leaves the driveway or the work parking lot.
What the process looks like
Here's the typical flow, start to finish:
- You book it. Call your nearest Rite-Way location or request a quote online. We'll confirm your vehicle, the glass it needs, and — if it's a newer car — whether it needs ADAS calibration.
- We come to you. A technician arrives at your home or workplace at the scheduled time with everything on board.
- We do the work on-site. A repair takes about 30 minutes; a replacement takes a bit longer, plus cure time for the adhesive.
- We tell you when it's ready. Before we leave, your technician tells you exactly how long to wait before driving — the safe drive-away time — and a few simple aftercare tips.
What we need from you
Mobile service is easy on your end, but a couple of things help it go smoothly:
- A reasonably flat, accessible spot to park — a driveway, garage, or open parking space works great.
- A little weather cooperation for replacements. Windshield adhesives cure best within a certain temperature and dryness range. A repair can happen in most conditions, but a replacement in heavy rain or extreme cold may need to move to a covered spot or a garage. If the weather isn't cooperating, we'll work out the best option with you.
- Access to the car. That's really it — you don't need to be standing over us the whole time.
When the shop is the better call
Mobile service covers the vast majority of jobs, but occasionally the shop is the smarter choice — for example, certain vehicles that require static ADAS calibration need the controlled space and measured targets of our facility, and severe weather can make an on-site replacement impractical. If that's your situation, we'll tell you up front and make the shop visit as quick as possible.
Why it matters
A cracked windshield is stressful enough without losing a day to it. Mobile service means a rock chip on Monday doesn't have to blow up your whole week — and because we come to you across our Kentucky service area, "I don't have time to deal with it" stops being a reason to let a small chip spread into a big problem.
